Order your Lulav
and Ethrog for Sukkot
(October 13th)
It is a mitzvah for each person to have
his/her own Lulav & Ethrog. If you wish to order a set
this year, please call the office before September 25th so
that we can make arrangements for ordering, pickup and delivery. The price is $60.00 and payment will
be required when the order is received. Please don’t be disappointed and call
the office early at 613-728-3501 and ask for Tammy.
Add Your Voice!
Our Adult and Youth Choirs are
preparing for High Holidays. If you've thought about participating, maybe now
is the time to jump in. You can take the
first step by getting in touch with Larry Tarof (pianoman@dr-l-music.com) or the
shul office.
Did you know…
Our Shabbat evening services include
Minhah with its lovely and unique nusah (musical mode), Se’udah
Shelishith (the 3rd Sabbath meal), and Ma’ariv & Havdalah.
During Se’udah Shelishith we also do some singing and learning. We are
studying passages from Arukh ha-Shulhan (a law code compiled at the
beginning of the 20th century), exploring different prayers of the
morning service and reflecting on the spiritual dimensions of their recitation
and practice. Currently we are examining the Amidah. Extend the depth of
your Shabbat experience with a lovely time of fellowship, reflection, and
music.

Register now for Conservative Yeshiva Online Learning
beginning the week of October 26, 2008.
Students of all Hebrew levels and Jewish learning backgrounds are
welcome. Students should be self-motivated and willing to devote 1-2 hours per
week to study. Two ten-week courses will be offered;
“Contemporary Issues in Halakha” with Rabbi Shlomo
Zacharow. In this
course, we will examine how halakha - Jewish law - confronts modernity
(and vice-versa) on a number of issues which have riveted the Jewish world over
the past year.
“Recipe for an Empire: From David's Jerusalem to
Ahab's Samaria” with Vered Hollander-Goldfarb. The course will study the creation of Jerusalem by
David, the missteps of David's heirs, the splitting of the empire and the rise
of a new kingdom just north of Jerusalem. The course will focus on the relevant
biblical texts from the books of Samuel, Kings and Chronicles. Whenever
appropriate, we will discuss relevant Midrashim and archeological
information.
Registration: To register for the classes, please click on
the link to the Conservative Yeshiva on-line registration system, <https://uscjisrael.researchsuccess.com/> and choose "online
