Sunday, February 21,
2010 - 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
“Here
is
a
little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note: Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy”...... Bobby McFerrin
So
are
we
worrying too much? What makes us
worried? What keeps us worried? What can we do to worry less and
“be
happy”.
Our
speakers,
Dr.
Jaklov
Shlik, Dr. Amy Moustgaard and Sara McConnell will be talking
about: (a) recognizing when worry becomes a problem; (b)
the
strategies we use that keep us worried; (c) the importance of
treatment; and
(d) a CBT perspective on Generalized Anxiety Disorder and more
effective
coping strategies.
Dr. Jakov Shlik, MD, PhD is Clinical
Director of the Anxiety Disorders Program, and the Operational
Stress Injury Clinic. He is Associate Professor of the
Department of
Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa and clinician/researcher with
the Stress
and Anxiety Research Unit of the University of Ottawa Institute for
Mental
health Research. His current research interests focuses on
